Athlete Bios

           Chris Mergens

Chris grew up in Minnesota. He was a high school and collegiate Cross Country and Track and Field runner. After graduating, he has shifted his interests into Triathlon.  

 

Personal bests:

800: 1:55;   Mile: 4:32;   5k: 17:06;   8k: 28:18

​

Goals: Break 17:00 in the 5k, run under 1:30 in the half marathon, and make it to the World Championships in the half Ironman.

           Nate Quinlan

Nate grew up in Erie, PA, but has called Pittsburgh home since 1996. He is a father of two kids. Growing up, Nate was a big soccer player. As time went by, he started to shift his interests into running and ended up entering in the Pittsburgh Marathon. He loved it and is still running today.

 

Personal Bests: 5k: 23:30;    10k: 56:42;   Half marathon: 1:55:11;   Full marathon: 4:55:37

Goals: 21:45 in the 5k, break 50:00 in the 10k and to complete another full marathonNate ​

           Judy Abongo

Judy grew up in New York. She was very active from early on competing in football, basketball, volleyball, and Track and Field. She still competes in as many sports as she can while also enduring in the Pitt Law School program. 

​

Goals: Break 20:00 in the 5k, run under 1:30 in the half marathon, and qualify for Boston for the full marathon

           Eddy Guo

Eddy grew up in Bethlehem, PA. He ran Cross Country and Track and Field in High School. He then took a hiatus from running when he arrived to college for two years. He has decided, "It's time to return and hit the asphalt again".

 

Personal Bests: 400M: 58 seconds, Mile: 7:07, 5k: 21:30

Goals: Break 20:00 in the 5k, and run more than 40 miles in a week.

           Stewart Jones

Stewart's personal best includes being a 3 time All-American for Division II Track and Field. His personal best in a 10k: 30:19, 5k: 14:37, 3000m Steeplchase: 8:56, and a Mile in 4:08.

           Kate Bowles

Kate's personal best is when she completed her first half marathon.

​

Her next goal is to take part and complete a full marathon

           Annette Aho

Annette grew up in Sacramento, CA where she fell in love with distance running. In 2011, she traveled to Southwestern PA to run XC and track with Waynesburg University. In 2016, she ran her first marathon and qualified herself for the Boston Marathon. Racing in the Boston Marathon was, "a dream, but only the start of my love for the marathon". 

 

Personal Bests: 5k: 19:05;  Half Marathon: 1:34;  Full Marathon: 3:09

Goals: Run all six world marathon majors in 6 years, break 3 hours in the marathon, break 1:30 in the half marathon. 

           Dan Clark

Dan played lacrosse in High School. As he now enjoys running, he also loves to bike, climb, lift and box.

Personal Bests: 1.5 miles: 8:40;  5k: 19:03

​

Goals: Complete a marathon, run a sub 5:30 mile, and complete his first boxing match. 

           Kate Guy

Kate grew up an avid softball player and golfer. She turned to running during undergrad to help with trumpet playing and ultimate frisbee. Ever since then, running has been a staple to her happiness

​

Goals: Break 18:00 in the 5k, run a ragnar, and avoid injury!

           Melissa Migliaro

Melissa has been running for over 10 years and has been getting a little more "competitive" with herself over the last 5 years. She has qualified for the Boston Marathon, but she regrets never running in the race. 

​

Goals: Qualify for the Boston Marathon again!

           T.C. Collins

T.C. ran Track and Cross Country in high school, and played Volleyball at Pitt-Greensburg. T.C. started back up running at age 40 and hopes to improve his running ability moving forward!

​

Personal Bests: 5k: 18:28,  10k: 40:40,  Half Marathon: 1:29:35

​

Goals: 5:20 mile, 1:27 Half Marathon, and sub-3:30 Marathon

           Brooke Alexander

Brooke was a gymnast growing up, and turned to diving in College. As a very active person, she has recently taken up running as a new passion. She has transformed herself from someone who hated running, to someone that enjoys it (most of the time). 

​

Personal Bests: 5k: 28:08, Half Marathon: 2:15:53

​

Goals: sub-2:10 in the Half Marathon, and complete in the Dopey Challenge at the Disney World Marathon

           Timothy Lyman

Tim has competed and coached at the collegiate level, and currently works with individuals of all ages and ability levels for participation in events of any distance. More importantly, Tim enjoys using running as a means to effects positive change in our community.

Personal Bests: 5k: 17:37,  Marathon: 3:12

​

Goals: Break 17 minutes in the 5k, and a sub-3 hour Marathon

           Kristy Brown

Kristy started running to cross off a bucket list item. That item was to run a Marathon before she turned 30. She ended up completing a Marathon 2 weeks before she turned 30, and has never looked back. 

​

Personal Bests: 5k: 20:13,  Half Marathon: 1:35:08,  Marathon: 3:24:33

​

Goals: Complete a Half Marathon or Marathon in all 50 states (3 to go!), sub-3:20 Marathon, sub-20 minutes 5k
